I am writing this to you on 11/8, election day. What a day. I know most of us have felt so much anxiety, unrest, and disappointment surrounding the results that we will find out tonight. By the time you get and read this, we may already or will soon know the outcome of who will be the next president of the USA. Regardless, we must be praying for our country and we can rest in the truth that God is sovereign, Jesus is King, and that this broken world is not our final resting place!
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord!” 1 Corinthians 15:57-58
Also, I urge you to read through all of Hebrews 1 and rest in the words that say, “He upholds all things by the word of his power (3)…Your throne, O God, is forever and ever (8)…You are the same and your years will not come to an end (12).
I pray these truths can fix your eyes on Jesus in His current and eternal reign and that you will find Him as your true source of comfort! I know I have to!
Now onto our update:
During the month of October, we stayed put here in SW Florida. The day-to-day was mainly spent plugging away at the seemingly endless projects at the House of Ride Nature. Right now, RN has a team of four full-time staff (Mark, Ethan, Garrett, and Josh) and two interns (Nolan and Mikale). In addition, there is another staff, Chris, who comes on Mondays and we have two more interns joining us shortly not to mention some ladies after the first of the year. Last month’s projects ranged from building stages, mini ramps, and product shelves to painting floors and six-hour Lowes shopping trips. All in all, the space is transforming and the prayer is that the coffee/retail shop will be open in the New Year. I can’t say enough how it is so amazing to see the Lord bring this dream to reality! He alone gets all of the credit for orchestrating the location, finances, and people to make this happen!
“Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3
There is A LOT of work to be committed but that is the only way it will be established! Here are a couple of progress photos (1: newly painted storage room and paddle board racks and table 2: a doorway they filled in a stuccoed)
Also in the last couple months, I have finally been able to get out on a wake board at Wake Church (since being pregnant and having Seder). We have Wake Church every second Saturday of the month. In October, my mom visited us at the beginning of the month so she got to attend and watch Seder while we were out wakeboarding. We have had consistent attendance of around 20 people each month and have been building relationships with the non-believing staff at Revolution Cable Park.
You might also like to know that Ethan’s skateboarding skills have improved over the last 1.5 years, since they were practically non-existent when we joined Ride Nature. This is a shot at the newly built mini-ramp in the back of the House of Ride Nature.
Another big praise is a huge donation from the company Penny Skateboards! They have been partnering with Ride Nature for several years now, but this was the biggest donation yet; 8 pallets of skateboards around $250,000! It is through companies like Penny that we are able to have more ammunition when sharing the gospel with kids! Let’s just say we have a lot of outreaches that need to be planned globally and locally to give all these prizes away!
As promised in my last update, here are our current prayer requests.
- That we will trust God to continue to work out all the details surrounding the opening of the House of Ride Nature (final projects, funds for furniture, permits, volunteers to run the shop).
- Diligence in personally pursuing the Lord and asking for the Holy Spirit’s guidance daily, along with spurring on other Ride Nature team members to do the same.
- Figuring out housing and details involving ladies coming to work with Ride Nature.
- Balancing and planning mission trips in the midst of everything going on at headquarters.
As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support while we serve with Ride Nature! God is good and we can trust His perfect plan, provision and timing for ALL things! Thank goodness our joy is not based on our circumstances and the world around us. In light of that, I can say have a blessed day!
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
In His love,
Ethan and Sandra
